Last evening, I was able to add the External Style sheet to the Thoreau's piece. Quite excited to know that my website is ready to be submitted. It was the most challenging assignment for LIS 2600. Then... the news feed disappeared!

Success!- 10 hyperlinks added
I was able to add the 10 hyperlinks to Thoreau's piece.
I am working diligently on this website to make sure that I complete this challenging website assignment.
I am working diligently on this website to make sure that I complete this challenging website assignment.
This course has been a rather difficult one for me this semester. I was shoved into learning and manipulating with the computer in ways that out of my schema of informational technology.
At the same time, it has broaden my knowledge about the technological advances that librarians must be able to manipulate with in order to serve their patrons in the ever-changing means of gathering online and analog information.
I have not mastered the inline styling of the Thoreau assignment and my BBC news link just disappeared. When this happens, which has been frequent throughout the semester, I question the reliability of getting information online.
Thank God, for team-work, diligence and willpower.
Lots of my successes are still "work in progress".

I am so frustrated by this rather challenging assignment of creating a webpage. I don't have vast knowledge of what the underlining of a website is like so I guess that is the first frustrating part of this assignment. I am trying so hard and still hitting walls. Thanks to Kim, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel. Somehow, I am still trying to remain optimistic about the end product! ... oh, how I constantly wonder about my grade for this class.

I am having such a difficult time getting my website completed. The major difficulty is getting the blog, Grazr with connotea and del.icio.us posted. I am hoping that tonight's chat with Dr. Tomer would provide some needed answers to some of the most difficult questions. Thanks goodness for VI teamwork in some instances.

Home Improvements? ... no ... Library Make-Overs
I really enjoyed the hot topic for this week: Funding
After thoughts,
Librarians are definitely going to have to able to learn how to write grants as it is obvious that there is not enough voice out there to bring awareness to why libraries are important in communities. As well, why updating libraries for the next generation is a worthwhile investment.
I got a few ideas while looking at the post of others: Libraries Make-Overs, Newsletters on what children are doing in school libraries, Most researched topic, teacher highlights, parent/child highlights and Library luau.

Quiz Results In!
I saw my grade on the LIS 2600 Quiz last evening.
Pleased!.
Off to work with this thought looming over my head:
Zoom Clouds is still giving me problems to get finished.

Rest, Massage and Pedicure Needed
This week, I have been caught up with getting the YWCamp organized with activities to stimulate the creative thoughts of 20 campers.
Keeping up with the UPitt assignments require a lot of balancing of my time. I am exhausted, but plan to have a personal pedicure at the beach with all the elements to get me relaxed.
Oh! ... I got distracted: I got my website published.
Still having issues with zoom clouds.

4th of July + UPitt
Happy Fourth of July!
Wished it was all play and no UPitt work. I just could not organize it that way.
Oh well!
What a busy week!
and then ... Summer Camp begins on Monday.

Quiz Responses Submitted
I just submitted my responses to the online quiz. This is my first time taking an online test. Really did not know that to expect.
My impressions? ... well let me view the grade first. I sure did learn a lot of how my computer works.
Lots of things do happen before the interface pops up. New insights ... the type of learning I like.
Back to trying to get the ZoomClouds floating in my blog.

Surveillance of my Blog!
I was surely horrified to learn that Amazon and Google are sharing your online information with the government in their partnership to place surveillance on citizens despite our struggle toward democracy.
This whole idea has got me thinking ... who is reading my blog entries besides Dr. T and the UPitt instructors? Hey, how do you know if someone has subscribed to your blog's RSS feed?
These are surely questions that make me questions many motives especially the popularity of innovations.

Digital Drop Box's Timing Off
Made a significant attempt at ZoomClouds today. No big results ... not completed.
The due date deadline is approaching!
I am off to continue working on my LIS 2000 book review. The digital drop box recorded my submittal as late on Book Review 1 eventhough I submitted it on the due date. Oh well, let's see what happens with this submittal.

Zotero Stumps
I am still trying to figure out how to export the 50 snapshots that I captured. I am spending so much time on it. I guess I should just move on and then return in a few days when the frustration subsides.
Wondering: On the discussion board someone mentioned that I need to add the author's name. Does this mean that I have to go back to all 50 snapshots and add a names? Sounds quite time-consuming.
Will check with my cohort for advice ...

Cohort 7 Meets in STT
This week I am in St. Thomas with the diligent group of Cohort 7. A plus to our meeting is that Dr. Tomer and Dr. Alman are here face to face with us to teach and answer our questions. Despite the struggle to get lunch and the transportation issues we are having a splendid time.
Each group presented on a variety of topics: Google, Copyright Laws and the PATRIOT ACT. Everyone was prepared and the extended group discussions shed a lot on each issue.
Cohort 7 V.I. is on the right path!

VI NBA Star Tim Duncan
Last night was the NBA playoff games. As a proud Virgin Islander, it is so fulfilling to watch Tim Duncan win his 4th championship. What a humble guy!
Oh, how I wished I had the chance to sit back and relax with the boys to watch the game. Instead, I sat in front to the computer trying to figure out Scopus to Bloglines. What a difficult and time-consuming process.
The television was on, but I was only able to peel myself away from the monitor to the TV screen during the last 5 minutes of the game. Length on the computer: 7 1/2 hours.
Within minutes of Tim winning the championship ... scopus references were sent to bloglines.
I am exhausted. It is 1:oo - Skype out Kim!

Caribbean Times with Pitt Doctors
This week Cohort 7 will be off to St. Thomas to meet with Dr. Tomas and Dr. Alman. I am curious to find out what new assignments or instructions we will get. I am hoping that the strong Caribbean sea breeze and tropical atmosphere will blend work and relaxation equally. (Wishful thinking)
This week my group worked on our presentation on the Patriot Act and the HOT TOPIC - Current Issues. It has been an exhausting week. Some members started Koho and Bloglines ... me not there yet.
Why did someone tell me that Bloglines is connected to Google? Trial and Error, lot of hit and misses, but I figured it out. I think that is how this MLIS 2600 is set up!

The Fabulous 50's are Completed!
The Fabulous 50's Zotero, Connotea and del.icio.us are completed. Looking for the attached sites made me aware of all there is in Cyberspace. I was excited to know, via Zotero that there are efforts on the way to archive the library materials in Africa. If I knew how to, I would affix a link to that blog for easy retrieval; ... not now .. another time ... another task to my busy agenda?
Off to the next assignment... with God's guidance

Now you tell me ... add an author's name
Oh, how I wished that I knew that authors had to be added to connotea. It was so frustrating to revert one by one to all the sites. Then during the process, I had to figure out if a specific name was to be added as an author or if mentioning an organization would suffice.

Impressed with Technology
LIS 2000 group posting of the 2nd Hot topics was thoroughly completed with many of the technological elements that I have no experience with. It was surely impressive! There was so much to browse, learn, and interact with. It is indeed a great resource tool.
The link that directed me to a teacher's end of the year blog was equally useful. I got great ideas on how I can use blogging in my classroom to supplement lessons. I believe my students would benefit from the technology, animation and writing element. This exploration has provided a trove of resources that I will tag to refer to later on.
This week was all about keeping my head above water. It is now, 2 minutes before midnight. Off to get some well deserved rest, not dreaming about MLIS.

The Pace has Picked Up!
Last evening, I worked with my cohort to add endnote and firefox add-ons. It was so time-consuming considering that the I have readings, a lengthy book review, a group powerpoint presentation, podcasts to listen to, bloggings and add-ons and downloads to complete.
Phew! I don't where to begin, or ... I know where to begin, but not sure if I can complete all in the time frame listed on the syllabus.
Still working diligently, off to add to connetea and delicous

Podcasting? I Know What it is ...
June 1st is the official start of the hurricane season and the last two weeks of culminating the end of the school year. The word that comes to mind as I reflect is: exhaustion.
I was juggling around too much throughout the week!
Today, I glimpsed at an interview on the show, THE BIG IDEA. It featured Mr. Bill Gates. He was informative in getting consumers up-to-date with all the technological gadgets/equipments that will be a part of the future. All the systems that he spoke about is already here, .. just being tested in his Microsoft techno-lab. T
The age of technology is on a consistent whirlwind. Kuhn's ... Paradigm shift?
Librarians must constantly be informed because the computer age is going to switch a lot around in the now-future.
I was excited that I understood some of the techno terms that he was speaking of ... podcasts, blogging, wikis, etc. Surprisenly, Gates focused in on a school's library to pinpoint what students are doing differently with computers in their curriculum .
Credit to the extensive reading in LIS 2600.

Midnight Post
It is 45 minutes to 12 midnight and I am up checking to see if there is any new information on Courseweb, my first peek at Bb today. Of course, there is plenty more to read, write and listen to.
Anyhow... I was thinking, if I can adjust myself to the rigorous demands of this first semester with all that I am active in, there is a 99.9% chance that I will be able to manage the upcoming semester.
Off to add the new tasks to my already "full to capacity" calendar. It is 12 midnight now ... Good Morning.

Laborious Tasks + Hesitation = Acquiring RSS
As a newbie to all the high-end technology that I am exposed to in this class, I am excited to know that I was able to set up my RSS feed this evening after a long exhausted day at work. Now, the task of getting a RSS feed set up might be a no-brainer to many but it required some laborious reading and rereading on my part. The lengthy steps include: listening to all the basement tapes on RSS feeds, searching the term via wikipedia, undergoing trials over trials with Google Reader and Bloglines Subscription Process. Somehow, I hesitated to click on tabs with my mouse. After getting some grip on my reluctance, I venture on ... Success.
I will know to able to post my RSS feed to Bb URL Posting Section ... Phew!

OCLC 1 - 250?
At this point of the Memorial Day weekend, I am still a little dazzled by configuring a RSS feed, even though, at this posting I do understand what a RSS feed is and why it would be essential to keep up-to-date with news, sports and the media interests of mines.
I am hoping that someone browsing the discussion board would help me with this task.
After I post this log I am going to click on the orange radio signal in the right high corner of a web page. It just might be able to shed some light and get on the step-by-step process of starting a RSS.
The OCLC report is 250 pages! This is lengthy printing. Hope it is an interesting read like the text, Computer 2008.
Still reading the text,

High-five to Kim
Based on my readings this week, I realized that I need to work on getting some type of anti-virus software installed ASAP. I tried looking at UPitt software site, but could not download the anti-software package for Vista. Hopefully, someone will lead me in the right direction when I post my inquiry on the Bb discussion board.
An enormous high-5 is extended to Kim for getting me on track this week with her patient process for helping me install connetea and del.ico.us. I had no idea what an add-on was! She was clear and right on target!
At this point, I am creeping in to understanking how useful these add-ons can be in organizing your search while online. I was even brave enought to take the time out to look at the RSS feed for the BBC News.

The Stagnant Breeze
This week I received my first shipment of books from Amazon. It contained Understanding Computer 2008 and Leonardo's Laptop. These books are one week late, so I have to attempt to organize my reading time to fit in last week's and this week's readings; another challenge to add to the hectic schedule that I have already been bundle down with.
Anyhow, I was attracted to the UC2008 book because I am in dire need of learning all that there is to know about computer equipment, and specifications based on my needs as a user and graduate student. Organizing myself is still a stagnant challenge ... absolutely no light seen yet at the end of the tunnel, so I know I have a long journey to keep trodding on. I am still positive about the entire process. Learning a lot and breathing deeply.

Revamping Modern Content and Containers
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the article, "Content and Containers" because it was indeed the reality of the vast changes with libraries and dissemination of information. Truthfully,I am amazed at the high speed that the "technology paradigm" is changing the way people search and organize content. As such, I now know that there is tremendous amount of information and sites that I need to manipulate with in order to know what is exactly hanging around in cyberspace and the blogsphere. Truthfully, the role of gathering information has changed and the reality is that librarians must adjust to those changes as they store, update and organize past and present data.
