Digital Drop Box's Timing Off

Made a significant attempt at ZoomClouds today. No big results ... not completed.
The due date deadline is approaching!

I am off to continue working on my LIS 2000 book review. The digital drop box recorded my submittal as late on Book Review 1 eventhough I submitted it on the due date. Oh well, let's see what happens with this submittal.

The workload has heighten this week. The only successful thing that I did for LIS 2600 was create accounts on Supr Glue and Zoom Clouds. I attempted to get the Zoom Clouds attached to my blog but error messages abound.
I am working on getting my book reviews correlated into one strong thought.

Google-Co-op is Completed!

My Google-Co-op is completed. What a neat feature! Phew!

Cooperative VI Group

The library is closed and Cohort 7 is still cooperatively working to get their LIS 2600 assignment completed. Persistence is evident! Everyone is hungry, but no has budged.

I am so excited that I finally got my Zotero snapshot exported. Accomplishment!

Zotero Stumps

I am still trying to figure out how to export the 50 snapshots that I captured. I am spending so much time on it. I guess I should just move on and then return in a few days when the frustration subsides.

Wondering: On the discussion board someone mentioned that I need to add the author's name. Does this mean that I have to go back to all 50 snapshots and add a names? Sounds quite time-consuming.

Will check with my cohort for advice ...

Cohort 7 Meets in STT

This week I am in St. Thomas with the diligent group of Cohort 7. A plus to our meeting is that Dr. Tomer and Dr. Alman are here face to face with us to teach and answer our questions. Despite the struggle to get lunch and the transportation issues we are having a splendid time.

Each group presented on a variety of topics: Google, Copyright Laws and the PATRIOT ACT. Everyone was prepared and the extended group discussions shed a lot on each issue.

Cohort 7 V.I. is on the right path!

VI NBA Star Tim Duncan

Last night was the NBA playoff games. As a proud Virgin Islander, it is so fulfilling to watch Tim Duncan win his 4th championship. What a humble guy!

Oh, how I wished I had the chance to sit back and relax with the boys to watch the game. Instead, I sat in front to the computer trying to figure out Scopus to Bloglines. What a difficult and time-consuming process.

The television was on, but I was only able to peel myself away from the monitor to the TV screen during the last 5 minutes of the game. Length on the computer: 7 1/2 hours.

Within minutes of Tim winning the championship ... scopus references were sent to bloglines.
I am exhausted. It is 1:oo - Skype out Kim!

I worked diligently on my LIS 2000 book review for a Monday posts, to eventually find out ... it was not received by Pitt. Off to post it again.

Caribbean Times with Pitt Doctors

This week Cohort 7 will be off to St. Thomas to meet with Dr. Tomas and Dr. Alman. I am curious to find out what new assignments or instructions we will get. I am hoping that the strong Caribbean sea breeze and tropical atmosphere will blend work and relaxation equally. (Wishful thinking)

This week my group worked on our presentation on the Patriot Act and the HOT TOPIC - Current Issues. It has been an exhausting week. Some members started Koho and Bloglines ... me not there yet.

Why did someone tell me that Bloglines is connected to Google? Trial and Error, lot of hit and misses, but I figured it out. I think that is how this MLIS 2600 is set up!

The Fabulous 50's are Completed!

The Fabulous 50's Zotero, Connotea and del.icio.us are completed. Looking for the attached sites made me aware of all there is in Cyberspace. I was excited to know, via Zotero that there are efforts on the way to archive the library materials in Africa. If I knew how to, I would affix a link to that blog for easy retrieval; ... not now .. another time ... another task to my busy agenda?

Off to the next assignment... with God's guidance

Now you tell me ... add an author's name

Oh, how I wished that I knew that authors had to be added to connotea. It was so frustrating to revert one by one to all the sites. Then during the process, I had to figure out if a specific name was to be added as an author or if mentioning an organization would suffice.

Impressed with Technology

LIS 2000 group posting of the 2nd Hot topics was thoroughly completed with many of the technological elements that I have no experience with. It was surely impressive! There was so much to browse, learn, and interact with. It is indeed a great resource tool.

The link that directed me to a teacher's end of the year blog was equally useful. I got great ideas on how I can use blogging in my classroom to supplement lessons. I believe my students would benefit from the technology, animation and writing element. This exploration has provided a trove of resources that I will tag to refer to later on.

This week was all about keeping my head above water. It is now, 2 minutes before midnight. Off to get some well deserved rest, not dreaming about MLIS.

The Pace has Picked Up!

Last evening, I worked with my cohort to add endnote and firefox add-ons. It was so time-consuming considering that the I have readings, a lengthy book review, a group powerpoint presentation, podcasts to listen to, bloggings and add-ons and downloads to complete.

Phew! I don't where to begin, or ... I know where to begin, but not sure if I can complete all in the time frame listed on the syllabus.

Still working diligently, off to add to connetea and delicous

Podcasting? I Know What it is ...

June 1st is the official start of the hurricane season and the last two weeks of culminating the end of the school year. The word that comes to mind as I reflect is: exhaustion.
I was juggling around too much throughout the week!

Today, I glimpsed at an interview on the show, THE BIG IDEA. It featured Mr. Bill Gates. He was informative in getting consumers up-to-date with all the technological gadgets/equipments that will be a part of the future. All the systems that he spoke about is already here, .. just being tested in his Microsoft techno-lab. T

The age of technology is on a consistent whirlwind. Kuhn's ... Paradigm shift?
Librarians must constantly be informed because the computer age is going to switch a lot around in the now-future.

I was excited that I understood some of the techno terms that he was speaking of ... podcasts, blogging, wikis, etc. Surprisenly, Gates focused in on a school's library to pinpoint what students are doing differently with computers in their curriculum .

Credit to the extensive reading in LIS 2600.
